This is that show I remembered from childhood!! I would've sworn there were more than just a handful of episodes. What a shame! But the show is really first rate, taking into account that it was a Saturday morning live-action show from the 1970s. There are so many shows I remember watching, and my gut feeling is to leave them alone since they can't possibly translate to a much older me. But the whole thing is just as likable today as it once was. It has a Kung Fu atmosphere about it. There's no kung fu being done, but it just looks very much like that show in its settings and such. You could also compare the Planet of the Apes TV show to this. In fact, if you like Ark II you should check out Planet of the Apes as well.
BCI has done well bringing shows like this back. In about 2 weeks I'll be ordering the next shows in this set, Space Academy (which I don't remember) and Jason of Star Command (which I very much DO remember). I think the show Space 1999 is another that fits in well with all of these. I have to say that ARK II alone has really helped make this year much happier than it would've been with all the real world problems I'm having. It's great to take a step back and enjoy these shows again.

Being a fan of sci-fi TV series and enjoying those silly, weird, gadgets the props people always make up I had to get this show. The truck is cool, the chimp is cool and Ruth, played by Jean Marie Hon-Trager, is sexy. Hey, she is. But she should have cut those long nails. This is an action show after all. I loved the guest stars, some of which are on the show before they became real stars, and I also love the plots. Some of the plots are very simple but they sometimes really hit on the point, the message, that in many shows get buried under too many details about the characters, setting, and technology. There are lots of extras and is OK for the kids.

I used to watch ARK II, (and ISIS) when I was a kid, it didnt last long, most series lasted one or at best two years, still dont know why.
I been waitng for this show to be on DVD, but figured it never would be released, for who will remember a show that last only 15 episodes and only kids saw it, back some 25-30 years ago??
Glad to see its on DVD!!!!!!!!! (and so is ISIS).

"For millions of years the Earth was fertile and rich... then pollution and waste set in, destroying civilization."
Another speech by Al Gore? Nope. The paraphrased opening of Ark II.
I vaguely remembered this program when I was a kid. It was like Damnation Alley but without the killer cockroaches. In this program these people just wander around post-Apocolyptic America doling out advice and generally feeling better about themselves. And what could be more seventies than that?
One of my favorite scenes was Mr. Jetpack standing between a couple of idiots who had been hoarding water and their victims, a mob of hungry people. When it was revealed that the two had known all along where there was water the mob yelled "get them!" but our Seventies do-gooder stopped them: "Wait! It's your fault too, for not planning properly and making do with the resources you have."
Wait a minute... you're going to tell subsistance farmers that it's THEIR fault that they don't have water to grow their crops? He's lucky they didn't show him a new way to fly that jetpack.
Loved the scenes with the jetpack. Of course, they rarely had anything to do with the actual scenary in the story....
Oh, and these guys never carried weapons. If they got attacked they SHINED LIGHTS IN YOUR EYES! It's a good thing the secret of sunglasses was lost in the Apocolypse.
Anyway, any series that has Doctor Smith as a guest star in its opening episode can only get better from there.
