Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not as Bad as the reviews! Quite Good actually
I do not write too many reviews. But I was very perturbed by the poor reviews this toy received. My son has wanted this Trak set for over 1 year. I avoided buying it because of the awful reviews. I broke down and bought it for him with full intention of returning it,if it was flimsy and non-duarble as most of the reviews claim.
First of all you have to put it together properly which can be a little tricky. My first attempt failed but I could tell it was flimsy and something wasnt correct so I took it apart and did it again. Success!! It is fairly stable my 5 year old and destructive 2 year old played with it for hours without breaking anything. I even did the first few races myself to be sure.
The ONLY complaint I have is all Pixar cars do not work on it, so far Florence and Ramon are too wide to fit, but Doc, Sally, and Lightening work just fine. I purchased some 5 pack of cars at Toys R Us to go with it. My son says some of his Hot Wheels cars work too! Overall happy with the product and will purchase others for gifts for my friends kids.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It wasn't that hard to put together.
It took a little time, but I think it was worth it. You do have to be careful once its assembled; if too much pressure is placed on parts of the track, angles will change and it the cars wont ricochet correctly. Otherwise its a fun toy, that is cool to watch in action, and its remarkably easy on the batteries.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - this toy is very disappointing
it seems as if the parts do not fit properly. the parts are subject to lateral stresses, which cause the whole track to to become aligned improperly. the launcher is either under-powered, or the incline is too steep, because the car simply gets to the almost top of the incline section, and flops backwards; either onto the floor, or (if you're lucky) onto the track below where the car comes to an inverted sliding halt. i'm not sure how easy it was to put together, because none of the parts seemed to fit. my son liked it better before i finished putting it together, because then he wasn't disappointed because it didn't work. once i got all the pieces in place, and told him it was ready, he was crying moments later because it kept comming apart, and his "race" kept falling apart.
horrible, horrible toy. buy your kid a savings bond instead of this piece of junk.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not even worth $10
This is the first review I've ever written, but I have to tell everyone that this is the crappiest toy I have ever seen. It didn't even work the way it was supposed to once. My son tried to play with it, very carefully I might add, and it still fell to pieces. I now have to find a time that he's not around so that I can throw it in the trash. Seriously, don't buy this toy. I would give it 0 stars if it would let me. I can't believe that anyone gave it a good review.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Poor workmanship, false advertising
My son received this toy for Christmas. Santa says it went together easily. It doesn't fall apart like some are describing, but it does move out of position and unhook at the bottom and my son has to ask for help to fix it because it has a lot of movable parts and is not easy to fix for a 5 year old. It is noisy and that's annoying. The biggest disappointment is that the cars which are sold to go with this set of "Radiator Springs" product do not work on it. Even the cars which are PICTURED ON THE BOX ON THE TRACK do not work on it, except the McQueen car which comes with it. I cannot believe they tested this before they released it. All of the engineering which had to go into this and they could't make more of the cars work on it? I rate it a 3 because he does play with it despite its faults, as a parent consumer however, thumbs down.
