If you knit and you want to make beautiful knitted garments, then buy this book. It is the most thorough, easy to understand reference on how to knit that exists as far as I know. It has pretty well everything you need to know about knitting, and you can proceed with confidence!

an absolute essential. great photos. i am a book-taught knitter and i have taught myself many techniques from this book. great sections on how to design! and i love the way they present different types of construction-- collars, pockets, sleeves, etc. makes it easy to design your own sweater.

The new Vogue Quick Reference is the same exact content, grafics, photos and text that can be found in the older version of "Vogue Knitting the ultimate kitting book" (blue hardcover) This older book has a lot more information and it is easier to read, because the pictures and text are larger. It is also priced extremely well, when bought used.
I wish I would have found that one first and I could have saved the money for the little book, since I do not really need a little book to fit in my knitting bag and have trouble reading the small print. The big book also has a few patterns in the back and a lot more helpful information like knitting on the round and designing a pattern. I love the blue Vogue Knitting book because it is clear and concise in it's pictures and text and covers most of my knitting needs.

This is a must have for any knitter, I refer to mine on a regular basis, especially if I get stuck on a pattern. Everything from how to begin to creating your own raglan sweater is in here, this is a book that belongs on every knitters shelf.

This book clearly explains every technique, every strategy, every knitting answer to your every knitting question. Short and to-the-point answers, perfect photos, efficient cross-referencing and book layout, massive breadth of topics.
You cannot find more topics covered in one volume anywhere else. No other book manages to even come close. When you just plain need to look up how to do something... anything... it will be in this book.
And since the book covers so MANY topics, you are sure to see clear explanations of how to do an overwhelming number of things you may never have even thought of doing. In that regard, it is a valuable resource for inspiration, too. You could spend a lifetime trying out everything in this book.
If you knit, you are using life's otherwise "wasted" moments as precious snippets of time in which to create things that are good for the soul and precious comfort for the body. Few, if any, arts could be so vital or so filled with love. And if you are one of those who is keeping this art alive, you deserve to hold and keep this book. This one is the bible.
