I have enjoyed all the Pendragon series and recommendeded it to friends and other educational professionals and, until this one, been unashamed as an adult in reading them as well. This one in particular, however, limps horribly: a few minor plot advances to the series but despite being a very long book not much happens...it seems all too apparent the author is drawing out the series to make a buck. The standard references are there: yes, boxer shorts are ok, the kids are growing up but the war on the current world is unbelievable and the resolution thereof is tedious and not bearing of scrutiny. I skipped tens of pages in a row out of sheer tedium. While I do not wish for the end of the series, nor truly for an end of the author's revenue, this long drawn-out narrative is not fun as the the first books are, nor as gripping or as interesting in English language use either. As they say: better luck next time!

This was a Christmas gift for my daughter who has some of the series and loved this one also!!

I liked this book because it gave a nice twist to how complicated Halla really is. The way DJ wrote this was really brilliant! I loved how every detail of each territory is all entangled together. I loved how DJ makes sure that Bobby isn't just staying a little kid. The adventure of Bobby Pendragon is complicated and intriguing and every adventure of each book is totally different from the last. This book is no exception. If you've read my reviews before you know I don't like to spoil the story or reveal anything that's vital to the story. So I wont disappoint you this time. You'll just have to read it for yourself.
I really am looking forward to the next book coming out.
Happy reading!

Pendragon is the best book series in the world. it includes somthing for everyone, sci-fi, drama, and comedy. The pilgrams is by far the best in this series. If you can put POR down for one second, then you have got some talent.

Another exciting chapter of the Pendragon adventure, the Pilgrims of Rayne continues to follow Bobby Pendragon, now a 17 year old boy, as he attempts to save another territory from being thrown into utter chaos by the very evil Saint Dane. As with the previous books, the twists and turns never stop! At times, what is revealed was so surprising that I had to stop and take a breather! The tone of this book shifts from the other books in that Bobby is starting to realize that his mission is about all of Halla, not just one territory. Things start to blend and shift. Victory is not as clear-cut as it was before for Bobby, and neither is defeat. And the motivations behind Saint Dane's evil acts are revealed more. Plus more time travel fun!
D.J. McHale is the master of surprise, white-knuckle suspense, as well as laugh out loud fun. This is possibly the best adventure series of all time, for both kids and adults. In my opinion, it is even better than Harry Potter. Grab all of his books today!
