I had noticed ALMASED advertised in some health & nutrition magazines I read. I liked what I read about the product. I finally decided to try it. I just started using it a couple days ago. I was put off by the price and only 10 servings in a can but then I figured it came to roughly 2-3 dollars per serving (meal). I'd be hard pressed to buy or cook a meal for that. I've only started trying out ALMASED and I really like it thus far. I plan to buy the TURBO DIET BOOK, however, I want to remind everyone who posted here, you will find an instruction slip of paper inside the ALMASED can. People should read it completely. They plainly post "WARNING: The Turbo Protein Diet by Dr. Markert." Almased does not recommend the program unless done under the supervision of a doctor. In reading the reviews of this book and those people who "got sick" attempting the TURBO DIET obviously did not read this clear warning by the ALMASED CORPORATION. Those who have difficulty might consider the Almased Bikini plan which is one complete week of Almased meal replacement 3 times a day along with unlimited homemade vegetable broth.
The second week replaces breakfast and dinner with Almasad and a lunch of vegetable, lean meat or fish and salad. I think this plan would be the more intelligent plan to try first and then see how one's results are. It appears to me that only people who know they are in good health and who have had a recent complete physical and who have discussed the TURBO DIET with their MD, should consider doing the TURBO plan. Since I've not yet read the book I am giving it 3 stars. After reading it, I may give it more or less.

My parents went on this and it worked great for them. They lost the weight and have kept it off. When I tried it, however, on the second day I was throwing up and couldn't stop even after I had the protein drink, drank some broth. I finally stopped after I had eaten a popsicle. The only thing I can think of is that I am hypoglycemic, and this drink has very low sugar. I hope this helps some people thinking about the diet. Like every type of diet it works great on some, and not so great on others.

I have used this product for 12 years (in Europe it's been know that long!), needless to say it really works otherwise I wouldn't do it over and over again. Mind you, this might not really be for everyone since the shake is not chocolate/vanilla/whatever flavored and since most get scared off by the fact that they don't get to eat solid food. The first day you'll have to stay close to a bathroom for about 4-5 hrs, but it benefits your body as a lot of nasty gunk stuck in your intestines will be flushed out (Sat/Sun would be good or any day off). The first time you try this the first 2 days might be tougher because you're so used to sticking stuff in your mouth, but now you don't get to - this is not actual hunger, this is your mind playing the "what you can't get is what you want most" game. This diet is great, because is gives you lasting success in little time, but is different from other "quick-fix" diets as it doesn't eat away on your muscles even though you're dieting. I don't work out other than walking my dog for 45 min. every night, if you follow the plan without cheating (with the exception of the first 2-3 days you this should never leave you hungry) you will loose 13-14 lbs in 2 weeks even without exercise, though exercise benefits your overall well-being at any time. Since this diet will get your metabolism back on track, you won't have to worry about gaining it all back (except for 3-4 lbs of water weight), unless of course you decide to go on a chips & dips, chocolate, ice cream and candy diet afterwards. Speaking of which, all those carb gravings will be diminished after being on the diet for a few days. So, all in all, if you decide to at least try it, stick it through the first 2-3 days of mind-games you will see the pounds going down the drain and be able to keep them off. Good luck!

This diet is absolutely phenomenal. It works exceptionally well, and I saw excellent results with it. All told, I lost 20 pounds with the diet, and the key point here is that I did not gain any of the weight back whatsoever. Even when I went back to my usually .... and very non-low carb diet. I give it 4 stars because I never did make it to the 2 week mark, it was just too hard for me, so I ended up doing this diet for 5 - up to 8 days at a time which is how I lost the sum total of 20 lbs. I must also mention that I am hypoglycemic, meaning my blood sugar drops fairly low, and this diet does cause your blood sugar to drop. This diet is not for the faint of heart and it can be very difficult. But if you are in a pinch, it is a great way to lose some extra pounds in a hurry!

I actually read the German version of this book first, which is exactly the same. I actually tried this diet when it first came out in Germany in '99 after I had seen several pple loose quite a bit of weight on it. I stuck to it for 2wks. It was hard not to eat the first day or two, but with the help of the home-made veggie broth I got through it. I never cheated once. The drink is not nasty nor is it very tasty or filling....once again, the veggie broth always saved my day. I drank almost a gallon of water per day. To my disappointment I did not loose more then 10lbs within those two weeks, other than the 30-40lbs I had seen in the other pple, and swore myself, never to go on a liquid fast again if that was the result...my body just works different from others. BUT after I got off it, I was not hungry anymore and I had this urge for fruits and healthy stuff all of a sudden. So I actually started loosing after I got off it and thinking back, must have lost another 15lbs in the weeks following. Unfortunately, I gotta say, that if you don't stick to a healthy/sensible diet, the weight will eventually come back....very slowly, but double. However, after endless trials with stupid weightloss pills and powders, I'm finally as fat as I was as a child and have come to the conclusion....Markert is a good thing. I will start it again next week.
