I waited 15 years to see this movie again.
You get to see TONY DANZA, ROBERT WOHL and the oh so sexy FRAN DRESCHER before they were famous. Even then her trademark whine got me going.
All of those cars that we love are shown, Chevy Nomad (pie truck), the RAIL JOB, Vette (when it was still a String Ray) the original T-Bird etc.
I'm not going to give a blow by blow, but if you like any of the "greaser movies" or you are interested in the 50's or 60's this might be more your speed. It all takes place in one crazy night and its one of those magical nights that we all had in our youth. This story takes place in the early 60's, just before one of the guys is about to go to war. (Viet Nam)
Its a time when guys had car clubs and gangs were into light mischief only. The worst and one of the funniest events is when somebody "spikes" the punch in quite an unusal way and a female teacher says "I've definitaly had this in my mouth before!" I bet she had!

Who can't forget Robert Wuhl ( Newbomb Turk ) in that hilarious fart scene ! That was the show stealing moment right there ! Don't forget Lawrence , Lawrence of Arabia , He's an English guy . He came to fight the Turkish !
I have never laughed so hard in my life when I first saw Hollywood Knights on HBO 20 years ago and I love to see it again and again ! I will save it for my son when he becomes old enough to understand the content in about another 12 years !
Good house party movie too ! Get your copy today and DON"T DRINK THE PUNCH ! LOL !!

I'm delighted to see that so many people love this movie! I saw it several times when it first came out and waited way too long before it showed up on cable. The real star of the movie is Robert Wuhl who is dead on FUNNY! And I would say the best co-stars are the cars and the culture of 1965 Southern California. I am lucky enought to have experienced the Drive-In experience during my high school days and though we had lots of fun, a night like the October 30, 1965 at Tubbys would be one for the books. The movie runs easily from gag to gag with little time for a breather. The serious moments are few and well played. Of course Duke and Suzie will eventually break up and we hope Jimmy comes back from Viet Nam to enjoy his ride and hang out with Smitty and the boys. But until all that is known let's raise hell on Halloween! I'm glad there was never a sequel to this movie because this special kind of fun can only happen once in a life time.

The real star of this movie is Robert Wuhl, whose Newbomb Turk character steals the show. This is the kind of movie that had an inexplicably short life in the first run theatres before trickling down to the local "buck-a-seat" houses. That was where I first saw Hollywood Knights, on a night when I was so bored that I took a chance on a no-name comedy and parted with my hard earned dollar. I've rarely recieved so much bang for my buck since. If you like this one, give it's fellow classics Spring Break and Porky's a chance also.

Can it really be nearly a quarter of a century since I first saw this riotous film during it's initial theatrical release in early 1980? For years afterwards I had to content myself with watching it on and taping it from HBO and Cinemax, all the while wondering why it had never been made available on home video. Now, I am quite happy to say that I own the film on both VHS and DVD. I am stunned but not surprised by all of the reviews raving about this wonderfully funny film. Although Tony Danza and Michelle Pfeiffer are given top-billing, they are overshadowed by the hilarious and talented Robert Wuhl as Newbomb Turk, the little-known at the time, Fran Drescher as Sally and Stuart Pankin as Dudley Laywicker. The two bumbling Laurel-and-Hardy-like Beverly Hills police officers are also extremely funny. It has a great soundtrack of classic 1960's music, some great-looking 1960's cars, some great-looking women and also well-captures the flavor and the spirit of the 1960's. It is for everyone who has ever hung-out at the local drive-in, gone cruising and longed to return to a simpler time. The DVD, while it does offer a great looking transfer of the film, in both fullscreen (pan-and-scan) and widescreen (letterbox) versions, it is surprisingly and unfortunately double-sided. Curiously, it also features "bonus" trailers of a few later Michelle Pfeiffer films, but absolutely no trailers whatsoever for The Hollywood Knights!! This is one of the funniest films I have ever seen, along with Smokey And The Bandit, The Odd Couple, Dragnet and Planes, Trains And Automobiles. If you love The Hollywood Knights, I wholeheartedly recommend checking out the 1982 film Losin' It (another one of my favorites), starring Tom Cruise, Jackie Earle Haley and Shelley Long. It is very similar in tone and humor. What a pity there were never any sequels made to The Hollywood Knights!!
