Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Best!
This is the first book I read out of the Wallflowers series. However,it is not the first book in the series. I was hooked!~ Got right back on Amazon the next day and ordered the rest that were available, and pre-ordered the one that was not! Fantastic series with lively characters and not the same old cliche circumstances. Thank you Ms.Kleypas for writing a romance novel that actually made me laugh out loud...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Kliypas is great!
Lisa Kleypas tells a great story "It Happened One Autumn" flows beautifully luring the reader into the book making it difficult to put down. The heroine "Lillian" is paradoxically strong but soft. "Marcus" is the man of any woman's dreams.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not so crazy about this one
I bought this book after reading Secrets of a Summer Night, which I liked very much. I wasn't crazy about Lillian, the heroine in this book, but I decided to give it a try. I still didn't like her very much as a heroine, nothing to do with Anabelle in the first book. It just didn't convince me as settled on that era, too much sex and a weak story for my taste. Don't get me wrong, steamy scenes like what Simon and Anabelle had on the first book are very good, but in this one, well, the last one I didn't even read it, it was kind of boring at that point.
So, if you're looking for hot sex scenes, they by all means buy it. If you prefer a good romance novel, find another one. This will not do.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An engaging and witty "hate him, love him" tale
This story has a witty undertone to it but it's also an intense love story. The principal characters, predictably, can't stand each other. There's even an insinuation that they are complete opposites, but I beg to differ. They have many similarities even down to their mutual dislike for each other. Lillian, like Marcus, is headstrong, smart, courageous and also speaks her mind. I think it's their similarities that cause them to clash, and boy do they clash. Their ardent animosity toward each other is as passionate and heated as their mutual attraction, which makes for a very entertaining story to read. If you add Lisa Kleypas' lively prose with such passionate characters, you have the makings of a really great read.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Second Book in the Wallflower Quartet
In this follow up to Secrets of the Summer Night, it is American Lillian Bowman's turn to leave the sidelines of the dance floor and find love. She and her friends have named themselves the "Wallflowers," making light of their unfortunate position as outcasts in London society. The four friends have vowed to help each other find mates and live happily ever after.

Lillian is a brash, outspoken American whose wealthy parents have brought her to England to attract a titled husband. Her lack of manners and refusal to adhere to the standards of propriety make her undesirable to the sort of men whom her parents are seeking. However, she is staying at the home of Lord Marcus Marsden, the Earl of Westcliff, a prim and proper gentleman who is everything in terms of manners and bearing that Lillian is not.

The romance in this story is a classic case of opposites attracting, but it worked for me. I found Lillian obnoxious at times, but her refusal to succumb to others' expectations was part of the reason I liked her. Often in regency romances, these girls just do what they're told and mind their manners--making them boring and repetitive if you read a number of these stories. In this regard, Lillian was a breath of fresh air. Marcus was a bit too straightlaced for my tastes, but by the end of the book he'd lightened up to the point where I found him bearable. I liked the plot and characters in the previous book in the series, Secrets of the Summer Night, more than this one, but thought they were both fast and enjoyable. The way this story ended I can't wait to read Devil In Winter, the third book in the series.
