I have read almost all of Lisa Kleypas' books starting with "The Devil In Winter" and I have to say that this is my favorite. Westcliff appears as a minor character in a few other novels, but I love that the uptight Earl gets hot and steamy with outspoken Lillian. I think this is the steamiest novel she's written by far! Best part: when Lillian gets drunk in the library and Marcus finally takes her to bed. Hot! I dream about him!

I honestly thought this was better than Secrets of a Summer Night. Although, I prefer the other characters better, this seemed more concluded, and yet very very open.
Still, it was sweet and fluffy and kept me going until the end, and now I need to read book number 3.

The book was great. It arrived promptly and was in great shape.

Though it started a bit slow, the second in the wallflower series is a very well written and engaging story and the author's writng style, as usual, keeps you glued till the end! This is the story of Marcus and Lilian where Marcus is very reserved by nature (yet totally hot!) who has had to follow rigid rules and protocols all his life while Lilian is a down to earth and lively girl who follows no rules! Their romance and coming together was simply beautiful and is a must read to see how these two completely opposite people fall in love! I can't for Eve's story in the third book!

Two things first: 1- I have loved most of Lisa Kleypas's books, really loved them; and 2- Marcus Marsden is one of the best characters she's ever written. With those two factoids on hand, I expected this book to blow me away...but it didn't.
For those of you who don't know, the male protagonist in 'It Happened One Autumn' has appeared in a number of Kleypas's other books, which is why I think he's one of her best characters. This hero was dying for a strong heroine to balance him out. I love this guy, people.
Sadly, Lilian was not the right heroine. I think even Daisy (Lilian's younger sister) would have made a better match. I found Lillian to be argumentative and obnoxious. Outspokenness and rudeness are not the same as strength of chracter.
Kleypas is such a great writier that you can't *not* like Lilian, but I guess I'm the only one seeing the basic disconnect between the two protagonists.
The story isn't a bad one. Like most of Kleypas's work, it draws you in and keeps you interested, but this isn't one of her best.
