Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
The girl with the striped moonboots and royal-blue epaulets is back from the 1980s to save the world for a new generation of young viewers. This time the gal, her rainbow-tailed horse Starlite, and her sidekick sprite Twink must face down a selfish princess who has stolen the biggest diamond in the universe, preventing light from reaching the world, and sending earth into a neverending winter. (Don't try to justify the plot from a scientific standpoint.) The rerelease of this 1985 production marks the relaunching of the Rainbow Brite franchise, following the successful returns of other '80s era cartoon characters like Care Bears and My Little Pony. Nostalgic young parents will revel in the big hair and big shoulders, and little ones will just enjoy the pretty horses and the colors. This 85-minute movie may also have some appeal to young males as the secondary hero is a boy with a robotic horse. (Ages 3 and older) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful DVD!
EXCELLENT buy! I bought it a few years ago and it's still in great condition. You won't be disappointed if you love your '80s cartoons and love Rainbow Brite. The new DVD is great quality and definitely has new millennium life but still has that olden days look about it.

It may be a little over $10 but it's well worth the price for the quality. Mine doesn't skip at all, and if you get it new it will last. Definitely worth the money.

I HIGHLY recommend this DVD to anyone ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Rainbow Brite
Cute old cartoon. Graphics not updated, remember it's from a long time ago. My children enjoyed it, but it's never their first choice to watch (only have watched a few times).

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - My hero is still Rainbow Brite
I loved the dvd all though I still have the tape from when I was a kid and there's some scenes missing from the dvd. Which kinda blows but whatever it was worth it to me

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - See a Shiny Star...
When I was a child, I loved Rainbow Brite. A couple of years ago I got the opportunity to watch this movie again. It really doesn't stand the test of time for adults. My main problem with this movie is that the evil doer is this bratty teenager character who is being persuaded by this guy to do a lot of the evil stuff she is doing. This gender dynamic really bothered me. Usually when I watch movie/read books from my childhood, I try to keep an open mind, but a lot of the stuff in this movie just didn't ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - CHILDHOOD MEMORIES AT ITS BEST!!!
I loved this movie as a child. the story is about rainbow brite and her friends in rainbow land when the Princess of Darkness desides that she wants Spectra. Spectra is the universe's source of light and without the light everything would die. Orin who is like tink is kidnapped and sends his horse to find rainbow brite for help and the adventure starts. who are they going to meet along the way? is the light saved? you will have to watch and see for yourself because i will never tell! ENJOY!
