I really like this game. The concept is cool, the graphics are bloody good for a game of its age, and the atmosphere - while not as theatrical as Homeworld - is compelling and immersive.
What holds me back on this game is the interface. It is, admittedly, a bit clumsy. Others have noted that there is not a true 3D interface - the geometry of the game is built around a 2-D plane with a Z-axis, but you can't really get away from that plane. That's fine. I think we'd all get a bit lost ... Read More

The game could be compared to either of the Homecoming games, but I find it favorible for the simple reason that it is simpler.
Yes, I will admit the number of units the player can pick from in LOI is very limited, but I think the game more than makes up for it in how they are used. Like in any traditional game (ie, chess, checkers, etc) the player is limited to the number of pieces given, and no more. The way the player utilizes those units determines gameplay. Anybody can simply overwhelm ... Read More

I'm a big fan of really any kind of strategy game, and Hegemonia is one of them. Its fun for a few days, and then it gets old again for me, sits on the shelf for 8 months, and then I play it again. Theres no online community for it, so dont bother with online play. FYI theres a security vulnerability in the game that becomes exposed in the latest patch, if you look around with google, you'll find info on it, its all gibberish to me.
I like it, but I think I'm the exception. I wish I could ... Read More

Hmm... Where do I start to praise this game? Oh yes:
1: The graphics of this game are great! The battles are incredibly life-like, and the planets look really cool! Oh, and the weapons are cool as well. Pretty amazing that this game works on Windows 2000 and I think 98 & 95.
2: The tech tree is great! Lots of different researches allow many different kinds of fleets. Plus, you can alter planets ... Read More

This game was very good in many respects. Whats cool about this game that you cant do in a game like homeworld is colonize and terraform planets and moons, that was awesome, also, whats cool about this game is you get to research 100s of new technologies, its really cool, also the strategy aspect of it is cool as well. It does kind of have to grow on you though, but once you get into it its definately worth it. I'd reccomend this game to anybody who loves space games and isnt the pickiest person around. This ...
