Editorial Review:
Description: The best selling instructional video "the 59 Minute Baseball Practice" is now available in high quality DVD format. The Youth Sports Club is the national leader in instructional sports videos being the producer of such best selling titles as "48 Championship Basketball Drills", "Winning Baseball Strategies", "Championship Soccer Drills" and the award winning "Backyard Baseball Drills". This DVD format will enable parents and coaches to show the 34 drills right on a laptop computer at the playing field.
Amazon.com: During more than a decade of coaching youth baseball teams, Marty Shupak realized that he kept seeing coaches and teams put hour after hour into practices that became so repetitive that they served only to bore the Little Leaguers forced to endure them. He sought to remedy the problem by devising practice routines that can take less than an hour, and which consist of drills that the kids will not only find fun and interesting, but will help them consistently develop their baseball skills. In this video, Shupak and a band of Little Leaguers demonstrate more than 30 different drills that can be used on the practice field with an entire team as well as by parents and children in a backyard session. The drills focus on basics such as base running, hitting, and fielding, but they often provide a wrinkle designed to keep the kids enthused, such as a defensive drill in which fielders practice throwing from third to first while in a kneeling position, or hitting drills in which a very soft ball made of old rags and masking tape is used. This video is not flashy yet the camera work is very professional, and the practical advice is imparted in an engaging manner. --Robert J. McNamara

IT'S A GREAT VIDEO TO LEARN DIFFERENT PRACTICE DRILLS FOR EVRY AGE GROUP. FUNDAMENTALS ARE AN INTEGERAL PART OF THE GAME OF BASEBALL AND CANNOT BE TAUGHT ENOUGH THIS VIDEO SHOWS DIFFERENT DRILLS TO MAKE A PLAYER FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND.

Great Drills. Made my practices fast-paced, instructional and FUN! The only thing the DVD needs (that I made for myself) is a quick printed reference chart of how to set up all the players and a brief description of each drill. Now I have a "cheat sheet" to look at to remind me of how all the great drills on the DVD go. rickrod

I was looking for specific drills I could add to a baseball practice that would keep things moving, keep boys interested, and teach good fundamentals. This short video has all of that. Really liked the content.
Having said that, the video quality itself is absolutely terrible. My copy was like the tape of a tape of a tape. Very poor video and audio quality.

Having bought other baseball instructional videos/DVD's advertised on TV, this one is my favorite for a few reasons.
1) There is less talk and more action. My kids even like to watch it over and over again.
2) The ideas are excellent! Got us away from the usual two hours of batting practice.
3) He gives great alternatives for problems that coaches always
face such as limited field use.
4) Watching this excellent DVD has also opened up myself to creating my own drills ... Read More

This is a great video, and I found plenty drills that I used with my teams. However, the drills are best suited for older Little Leaguers (11 and 12 years and up). The drills are not well suited for 8 and 9 year olds, who lack the physical and mental maturity (which is the level that I am coaching). However, I was able to adapt some of the drills to the younger players.
The video I'd recommend for all PARENTS is "Backyard Baseball Drills", to help their kids outside of formal practice time, ... Read More
