Editorial Review:
Product Description: When Mouse takes a stroll through the woods, he meets a fox, an owl, and a snake who all want to eat him! So Mouse invents a gruffalo, a monster with "terrible tusks and terrible claws, terrible teeth, and terrible jaws." But will Mouse's frightful description be enough to scare off his foes? After all, there's no such thing as a gruffalo . . . is there? Sturdy pages and a cozy trim make this rhyming read-aloud perfect for preschoolers. Winner of the prestigious British Smarties Prize.

When I was pregnant with my first son, I was buying xmas presents for a couple nephews and decided to buy them books. Because of the great reviews, I bought this one for one of my nephews. I read it before I wrapped it and fell in LOVE with it!! I even read it to my husband afterwards because it is such a cute, clever story!! After I gave it as a gift, I bought one for myself. I've been reading this book regularly to my son...who is now 18 months old...and neither him nor I have grown tired ... Read More

This is seriously one of the best children's books out there. The writing and rythym are fluid and the story line is very captivating.
I have a 4 year-old faux-niece that I read to relatively often. I will read anything she asks, but this is one book that I ask to read to her.
The book is good for kids of all ages. The story is fun to hear and can have a deeper meaning when the kid is mentally ready.

My kids love this book! We initially checked it out from the library but we had to renew it so often that I finally bought a copy. It is fun to read because of it's sing-songy rhythm. The story is fun, too. This is a family-favorite.

My daughters love the story. The little mouse is a clever guy who is shows that you don't need to be big and strong to win... but smart. The illustrations are colorful and happy and well done. The sequel "Gruffalo's child" is not as good. But the "Snail and the Whale" and "Room in the Broom" are even better than this one :)

My two year old daughter and I absolutely love to read Julia Donaldson's books. We love the way the book flows it is almost lyrical. The illustrations are beautiful too!
