Editorial Review:

Product Description:
She stood at peril's threshold --
then love beckoned her in…

A prim, well-bred gentlewoman, Sara Fielding is a writer who puts pen to paper to create dreams. But now curiosity is luring her from the shelter of her country cottage into the dangerous world of Derek Craven -- handsome, tough, and tenacious -- and the most exciting man Sara has ever met.

Derek rose from poverty to become the wealthy lord of London's most exclusive gambling house. And now duty demands that he allow Sara Fielding to enter his perilous realm of ever-shifting fortunes -- with her impeccable manners and her infuriating innocence. But there is a hidden strength and sensuality to the lady that captivates him beyond his better judgment. And in this world, where danger lurks behind every shadow, even a proper “mouse” can be transformed into a breathtaking enchantress -- and a cynical gambler can be shaken to his core by the power of passion and the promise of love.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A great read!
This was my first Lisa Kleypas novel and I enjoyed it so much that it certainly won't be my last. Loved the characters and the story.

I highly recommend it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Beautiful
Sigh. I just finished reading this love story and am so inspired by the characters it has me itching to write my own story. This is probably one of the best, if not THE best, historical romance novel I've had the pleasure to read. I really am sad that it has ended. I've read so many romance novels in search of something great that would take my breath away and I think I just finished reading it.

Here is why: the character development was wonderful. It wasn't cliche and of a "formula" ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My favorite book
I loved this book. I loved the characters. One word to describe this book is: Excellent!!! Great job Ms. Kleypas, you get an A+.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Loved it!!
I read this book in one day.. from the moment i opened to the first page till i finished reading the last i could NOT put this book down... if i would take a short break to do anything i would find my moments consumed by thoughts of the book and the romance of the characters. I'm not sure why this book is different to others.. just to me.. it touched me. I really felt like i was living the lives of these characters and this book will go into my faves! Two people from completely different worlds yet ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Disappointing.
Okay, I finally caved in and bought this book (despite its high cost) since my flight was delayed and I was stuck in an airport over night. I had heard so much about it and the hero - who according to some readers was a dreamy character. Nothing could be further from the truth IMHO.

I know this was an earlier work of Lisa Kleypas' but I still expected more after reading such (mostly glowing reviews). The characters were well developed, as is Ms. Kleypas' style but I just did not sense ... Read More
