Editorial Review:

Description:
This is the critical review of Rainbow covers 1979-1997, which saw the arrival of Graham Bonnet through to the final Stranger In Us All tour. Features rare footage of Rainbow with Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynne Turner and Dougie White. Dougie also gives us an insight into the workings of the band and explains what its like to tour and record with the man he calls the finest guitarist of his generation. This unique film uses rare footage of Rainbow on stage coupled with the incisive views of a leading team of music critics, working musicians and former Rainbow front man Dougie White to discover the influences that shaped some of the greatest hard rock music ever recorded.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - unknown singer tries to cash in on band's past glory
The description I read for this stated that Joe Lynn Turner and Graham Bonet were interviewed during this documentary. False. What you'll get is a 59 minute poorly made video of mostly unknown people who had nothing to do with the band, sharing opinions on who they think was Rainbow's best singer etc... It reminded me of the kind of talk I'd share with friends in high school except our conversation was more interesting and articulate then the people interviewed in this video. You'll see short snipets ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - You Fool No One!
I thought that I had found a gem....A DVD set that covered performances of one of the pioneers of metal...the early years of one of the greatest bands ever. Um...no. Someone is putting out a deliberate deception of Deep Purple DVDs that seem to suggest that you'll get live performances, but all you really get is a lot of strangers reminiscing about the band.

The very few performances that you get on any of these dogs have terrible A/V quality. My expectations were never high regarding the ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - blackmore infomercial
Ten minutes into this DVD I stopped being a Blackmore fan. This is nothing but a bunch of people I've never heard of, going on and on about how great and underrated Blackmore is.
How about showing us, and let us decide for ourselves.
In fairness, I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole, thing, so there may be something worth seeing on here, but, from what I saw, only the most hardcore fans will enjoy this.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Decent critique of post-Dio Rainbow incarnations
Inside Rainbow 79-97 is like the other Insider DVD's, a critique by various musicians, producers, reviewers, and critics in the UK rock genre (most I don't know but assume are well known over there). Starting with Down to Earth, a song or two from each album is analyzed interspersed with video from live concert footage from that Rainbow incarnation. Then the album is rated 1 to 5 stars. I enjoyed seeing the footage from 1980 Castle Donnington. Though all footage in this DVD is short, what is shown, showcases ... Read More
