It's truly refreshing to play a sports game that feels polished and finished. MVP 2004 is a beautiful, deep baseball game. The game is full of options and more options, but the developers didn't miss an opportunity to make a nice baseball game. The game play is terrific, surprising, and right on.
The actual game presentation and graphics are very good. Ballparks from major league cities and spring training facilities are all top-notch. Boston's Green Monster, San Francisco's cove, Philadelphia new PNC Park are just a few examples of a devotion to "get it right." The character animations are fluid and detailed. Pitching, base running, and fielding are easy to pick up and the controls make sense. It'll take a few games to get used to the batting, though. But after you get the hang of it, you'll be hitting homers before you know it.
As for options, MLB 2004 has numerous ways you can enjoy this gem. There is the exhibition mode where you pick two teams and get after it. Rosters are accurate and attributes appear to be very fair. Season play offers varying lengths of schedules, from 14 to 162 games.
Overall, EA Sports recreates all that is good about baseball and packages it in MVP 2004. The game just has the "feel" of being well-balanced and complete. I hope this game is a sign of things to come from EA's sophomore series. --Andrew S. Bub

I bought this game over the 2005 version mainly due to the price difference. It is definetely worth it for the price. The quality of graphics and gameplay are superb. The different possibilities in this game are endless. I play it on a regular basis in the franchise mode and I'm only half way through my first season. If you are big baseball fan this is the game for you.

This game is awesome. I have owned it since it came out and i still play it a year after. I have yet to throw a no hitter, yet i have come close. The greatest thing about this game is that you not only draft your "new blood" but you develop your team through dynasty. I am in 2035 and i have just ended a three year drought (cap reasons and bad trades.) Also save point and play with the legends and heroes of old. I cant be touched with Satchel Paige. people are saying barry bonds should be on this game, but if they are true fans they would know that ea sports can't use his name. he's not with the MLBPA anymore.

Nobody walks. Ever. Sadly, it seems EA is more interested in flashy graphics than realism. Gee, who'd a figured? I play OOTP Baseball 6.0. No graphics, but stats are right on.

Folks, this is the baseball game to get. All Star Baseball's franchise has gone downhill since 2001, ESPN has great graphics but nothing else, Triple Play is crap. After researching all these games, I selected this one, and could not be happier.
