I owned this game way back when it first came out, and now, with Athens 2004 coming out, this theme keeps coming back!
I remember playing this game with my family and friends, trying to beat the weightlifting world record, and the other world records. Be sure that you have a turbo controller for some of the events, otherwise, your hands will be become so tired, you'll want to throw the controller.
Great game, however, it doesn't work for PS2.

this game is admitadly complete rubbish when you play by yourself for more than 5 minutes. HOWEVER, get a few frinds over and play in a tounament, and NO game can compare to this one. the sheer fun of destroying your gamepad, just to jump that inch further, or run thet milklisecond faster is incomparable. lining up for the 100m race with your friends...the voice says ready.....get set...and then you shout GO!!! all your friends jump and get false starts. i played this game in the arcade and at home. ... This is a very good game. It is a little different from the old version but still is very good. It has a couple of different events like canoeing, horse vault, springboard, and weightlifting. It takes a little practice but it's worth it.

This is the same track & field game from the mid-80s, with better graphics. Controls are simple; just press the buttons as fast as you can. Not as fun when you play by yourself (actually, it's pretty depressing), but the fun factor multiplies 10 fold when competing against friends. A great party game. Tension rises once you start breaking records. And yes, it can give your hands a workout.
