Editorial Review:

Product Description:

What is the price of love?

Nick Gentry is reputed to be the most skillful lover in all England. Known for solving delicate situations, he is hired to seek out Miss Charlotte Howard. He believes his mission will be easily accomplished -- but that was before he met the lady in question.

For instead of a willful female, he discovers one in desperate circumstances, hiding from a man who would destroy her very soul. So Nick shockingly offers her a very different kind of proposition -- one he has never offered before.

He asks her to be his bride.

And he knows that this will be much more than a union in name only. For he senses what Charlotte does not yet know -- that her appetite for sensuality matches his own. But what Nick learns surprises him. For while London's most notorious lover might claim Charlotte's body, he quickly discovers it will take much more than passion to win her love.

Amazon.com Review:
Setting: London, 1839
Sensuality: 9

Bow Street runner Nick Gentry is a complex man with a dark and tortured history, and beautiful Charlotte Howard is a woman running from her past. Neither Nick or Charlotte are wholly what they seem, for each have secrets too painful to reveal, and each has chosen to hide behind a false identity. Once they’re drawn into each other’s worlds, they’re forced to face difficult truths and are compelled to acknowledge the passion that burns between them. For Charlotte, "the challenge of taming him, matching his powerful will with her own, was too tempting to resist." For Nick, "if he could not have her, this endless feeling of being hungry, unsatisfied, cold, would never leave him." But will their love be enough to defeat the obsessed nobleman who covets Charlotte and the thirst for danger that tempts Nick, or is their future together doomed by the pain of their past?

New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas has another winner on her hands with this follow-up to Lady Sophia’s Lover. Fans and new readers alike will love the fast-paced plot, compelling characters, high-octane sensuality, and the well-drawn English setting. --Lois Faye Dyer

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Surprisingly Sweet, Totally Worth It
Readers who enjoyed "Lady's Sophia's Lover" will definitely love the story of Sophia's ex-criminal brother, Nick. Nick is a tortured soul who spent several months in jail as an adolescent, exposed to nasty, abusive criminals. As an adult he cannot stand physical touch and has trouble being emotionally close to other people, but longs to change that. When he meets Lottie, he knows that she is the woman who can help him change. He is now a Bow Street Runner and is supposed to bring the run-away ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This Series Just Gets Better
My favorite of this series, and I have loved the previous two! The description is handled by other reviewers, I will only add that I think the characters are well drawn and have been carried extremely well from book to book. Lisa Kleypas has a number of really well done series in historical romance. She has that special "it" that keeps readers coming back. Nick is one of those characters who raises your heart rate!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - 3.5 stars. I loved the first 150 pages (about 40%). The rest was only ok because it was too ordinary.
I'm looking for great stories with creativity. The potential was here, but it wasn't developed as I would have liked. I enjoyed the characters Nick and Lottie.

THE FIRST PART OF THE STORY:
Nick was orphaned as a child, lived on the streets and was abused in a prison ship. He became a famous crime lord. Then he became a good guy by joining the Bow Street Runners for three years. Because of his childhood abuse, he feared being touched by anyone and never had sex with a woman. ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not Perfect, but still Worthwhile
Nick Gentry is a man with a criminal past who has been forced by his magistrate brother-in-law to become a Bow Street Runner. He's currently on a private commission for a lord who is hunting a run-away fiancee. Nick is good, even relentless, at whatever he turns his task to, so he finds her... but does he have to return her to the other man?

There is always something intriguing about a man with a dark past falling in love and possibly being redeemed. Although there's nothing too new ... Read More
