This is a great book for young readers! A little halloween fun for your first grader. Simple short stories that they may even be able to read by themselves. A little scary, but they won't want to put it down.

You have to think twice before reading this book to small children (5 or under). It came in a box of books that we bought at a garage sale. This book, and the other books by Alvin Schwartz, are some of the most if not THE most memorable books of my entire life. Theres something special about a book if you read it over and over and remember the stories well into your adult life. The way the stories are told is magical, I mean here's this intensly horrifying situation, but the way its worded so simply and easily has a sort of strange feeling to the whole story. this is what keeps me reading this book. i remember in our library in grade school, ...
