Product Description:
Four young ladies enter London society with one necessary goal: they must use their feminine wit and wiles to find a husband. So they band together, and a daring husband-hunting scheme is born.
It Happened at the Ball...
Where beautiful but bold Lillian Bowman quickly learned that her independent American ways weren't entirely "the thing." And the most disapproving of all was insufferable, snobbish, and impossible Marcus, Lord Westcliff, London's most eligible aristocrat.
It Happened in the Garden
When Marcus shockingly -- and dangerously-swept her into his arms. Lillian was overcome with a consuming passion for a man she didn't even like. Time stood still; it was as if no one else existed
thank goodness they weren't caught very nearly in the act!
It Happened One Autumn...
Marcus was a man in charge of his own emotions, a bedrock of stability. But with Lillian, every touch was exquisite torture, every kiss an enticement for more. Yet how could he consider taking a woman so blatantly unsuitable
as his bride?

Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite authors and I never till now thought that she could write a bad book. Well, I didn't hate this one, but certainly regretted paying money for it.
The decsription of the characters, Marcus in particular, is superficial. Lillian on the other hand, she's so out of her time, a heroine for a contemporary novel and not regency. Not even an American could be that liberated and free spirited and spend time between the peers, she would have been ejected asap. Another ... Read More

This book is a jewel in the crown of the Wallflowers series, and it is the diamond. Lisa Kleypas, always such a wonderful historical writer, really achieves something with not only the series but this book in particular. I have been reading romance for the past 24 years, and this is one of my top 3 favorite romance novles of all time. And Lord Westcliff is second only to Mr. Darcy on my list of best heroes. Marcus is just........perfect, especially in his imperfections.

The story was OK. Marcus and Lillian were both strong, likable characters but since Lillian spent most of the book being courted by Lord St. Vincent and Westcliff spent most of the book avoiding or ignoring her I would love to know when they managed to fall in love with each other. They went from passionate hate and enmity to everlasting love. Not realistic at all. Not bad... just not realistic

As I'm sure you realize by now, this is the second in the "wallflower" series by Lisa Kleypas. I have not read the books in order, this one just came up as the one I chose when I closed my eyes and reached into the box. (I have so many books to read I should be ashamed of myself for buying more than I can read, but I'm not. Buying books is a compulsion for me. Some of my friends buy shoes, I buy books [and purses!] but we will just overlook that little purse thing. Purses are essential to life, right?) ... Read More

This is the second in the Wallflower quartet and in my opinion is much better than the first (Summer).
This is Lillian and Marcus's story. I was intriqued to see what their story would be like after meeting them in Secrets of a Summer Night. Let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed. Lillan is a real treat of a heroine. She swears, plays "baseball" with the boys, and has a temper on her. I loved it!
Marcus is a straight-laced, serious, by the book hero. Lillian storms in to his ... Read More
